Sensei Jenna Garcia

Sensei Jenna Garcia

Owner & Head Instructor

Sensei Jenna Garcia is a 3rd-degree black belt in Traditional Shotokan Karate under Master Eric San Jose and has over 20 years of martial arts experience. Alongside her karate background, she brings more than a decade of Muay Thai and boxing training, and has studied a wide range of disciplines including Filipino Martial Arts (FMA), Jeet Kune Do concepts, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Iaido, and Taekwondo.

Beyond the dojo, Jenna has spent over 10 years working with the special needs and elderly communities, showing students of all abilities that martial arts is for everyone. She is committed to fostering confidence, discipline, and strength in every student she teaches.

Sensei Jessica Layburn

Sensei Jessica Layburn

Karate Instructor

Sensei Jessica Layburn is a 2nd-degree black belt in Shotokan Karate and has been training since the age of five. Beginning with grappling and karate fundamentals, she later transitioned to traditional Shotokan, earning her black belt at 17. As a competitor, she has earned multiple Top 10 placements and World Champion titles in both weapons forms and open-hand kata.

With over 17 years of experience, Jessica achieved her 2nd-degree black belt in 2016 and continues to inspire young martial artists with her patience, technical skill, and positive leadership.

Sensei Sean Mittelmann

Sensei Sean Mittelmann

Karate Instructor

Sensei Sean Mittelmann is a 2nd-degree black belt in Shotokan Karate and began his training at just eight years old. Over more than 15 years in the martial arts, he has earned both his black belt and five years of teaching experience. In addition to karate, Sean trains in Muay Thai, Kickboxing, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through Legacy's MMA program.

A graduate of Hofstra University's Occupational Therapy program, Sean is now a practicing occupational therapist and brings his OT knowledge into his approach to martial arts, emphasizing safe movement, strong fundamentals, and student-centered instruction.

Sensei Gianna "G" Vecchio

Sensei Gianna "G" Vecchio

Karate Instructor

Sensei Gianna "G" Vecchio is an accomplished martial artist with more than 14 years of combined training and teaching experience. They hold a 3rd-degree black belt through the International Taekwondo-Do Black Belt Association and Eric San Jose Martial Arts, a 2nd-degree black belt with World Taekwondo (Kukkiwon), and a 1st-degree black belt in Shotokan Karate under Master Eric San Jose.

G's training extends across Western Kickboxing, USA Boxing, Muay Thai, Jeet Kune Do concepts, Kali/Escrima, Wing Chun, Iaido, and Kendo—creating a versatile and well-rounded skillset. As a competitor, they achieved early success on the local and national circuits, highlighted by an exhibition cage kickboxing match at age 14 at the Capitale in Manhattan.

Coach Joe Mason is a 2nd-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under retired UFC fighter and former champion Matt Serra. With extensive experience both training and teaching, he is known for his technical precision, calm coaching style, and deep passion for the art.

Alongside teaching at Serra BJJ Academy, Coach Joe is a lead instructor at Legacy Martial Arts, where he works with students of all levels to build skill, confidence, and discipline. He is dedicated to helping each practitioner reach their full potential on and off the mats.
